Instagram which has been able to translate text in captions, posts and user bios since 2016, today announced that it is adding a new option to translate texts in stories into the language selected by the user. This will make it easier for users to understand stories that are not in their language. When users check out a story that contains foreign text, a “See translation” option will be displayed on the top left of the story. If users tap it, they will see the translation at the bottom. The Facebook-owned messaging app says this new translate option now supports up to 90 languages and is going to be made available globally.
Note that the new translate feature only translates text in stories and isn’t available for audio- translation at this time.
